Tech startup SkyBuys to launch duty-free project with Heinemann Australia

SkyBuys Pty Ltd (“SkyBuys”) is pleased to announce Heinemann Australia (“HEINEMANN Tax & Duty-Free”) has signed an agreement to trial the SkyBuys App and technology platform for duty-free shopping. Announced today at the Airbus BizLab DemoDay in Hamburg, the SkyBuys-Heinemann Australia project is scheduled to commence in early Q3 2018 at Sydney Airport, Australia’s major international airport.

Sydney-based technology start-up SkyBuys has recently been selected for Germany’s acclaimed global aerospace accelerator programme Airbus BizLab. “The Airbus BizLab programme is an amazing opportunity for us, and will give us access to international airlines and other industry partners,” says SkyBuys Founder Alec Kemmery.

The 26-year-old founder, Alec Kemmery, could fly a plane before he could drive a car. He also has a Masters (Science & Technology) with an aviation major from the University of NSW. The SkyBuys App, currently in beta testing, allows a traveller do all their duty free shopping, linking purchases online, in-flight or in-store and arranging delivery or pickup.
